I do not do free requests so stop asking.
What have you done to advance yourself?
"I'm a professional! Everyone else is a talentless hack who doesn't deserve the hype!" "People are so stupid!" "The system sucks!" "I wish my family would leave me alone!" You're always blaming someone else for your troubles. But you know the truth? It was never any of those things: you're the architect of your own misery. Because you're a poor artist, a terrible creator, and an even worse human being.
At the end of the day, humans need other humans to survive and live happily. And you hate people too much for your career to really go anywhere. Have fun in the prison you built with your own hands.
Rather than go on an endless rant, I say this to those who have mercilessly hounded you for free requests: Guys, when you ask someone for a free art, it's not really free, there are costs involved, one's time, one's efforts, and one's talent, which ar things you can't refund back. To me, if I was going to request an artist for something, not only do I pay them for their time and effort, but I put in the actual work to help oversee the project I want them to be involved in. The key word here is, folks, INVOLVED.. as well as giving them credit where credit is due.. and to compensate them for their time and effort with hard-earned cash, and not this B.S. about giving them 'exposure' and 'experience.' Because, guys, I've never heard of anyone making a successful living off solely of exposure and experience.
Bottom line, guys, is this, if you want an artist to honour your request, be prepared to compensate them accordingly than expecting a free lunch. Because honestly, I find many tend to starve from free lunches these days. But, hey, that's just me.
Besides, even those who have hired me for commissions were just wanting free work so not one fucker has ever considered paying me for work. I also love how there are assholes who approach me demanding that I commission them.
Yes, when you have told me about these bullshitters who hire you and then never want to pay you, I've always wanted to find those jerks and do something to them which would make Morticia Addams proud. Because you're more than a friend to me, you're a person. And yes, I realize these jerks out there don't give a crap, and that's why it bothers me more than you know. For at least you put hard work into your art, pity, I can't say the rest for some of these members here.
And if it's any consolation, I don't think you're a nobody in fact, you've been one of my inspirations since I first joined DA
And Happy Birthday
Oh by the way, I have made a comment of a gift I have prepared for you (obviously a drawing), upload it to my gallery or give it to you in private?
On one hand, I agree with you, but on the other hand truthfully I find this to be a bit narcissistic to think of yourself as being "too good" for this community and calling it a wannabe art community.
Don't get me wrong, this site does have it's flaws and fill of cringey assholes... But what site doesn't ya know? Hahaha.
I guess what I'm saying is that part of being an artist is knowing that you'll get asked to do requests from time to time no matter where ya go.
But I don't think being Narcissitic and insulting is really going to help much, to be fair.
I've been asked a request to make pixel art of somebody's character before and let's be real here, I'm kind of terrible at it, but I usually find people who request art to be a form of compliment in that they deem my work good enough for them to request art from me.
But yeah, I can understand how where it gets to a point where you're constantly getting asked, that you would need to kindly tell them to fuck off, heh.
And yeah, from what I've seen, I think there's always gonna be a lot of deadbeats, no matter the website. It's always good to take payment up front. Too many questionable people out there...
People won't stop pestering me for doing free requests
